My year round wish list

My list of all the things I want during this season of the feast of the incarnation, and anytime.

1. I want to never again do any of the things after the doing of which I hate myself.
2. I want my granddad to be prosecuted for his crimes, and I want all my aunts, uncles, mum, and my nana to be emotionally healthy enough to testify against him in court.
3. I want my mum to be cured of cancer. Permanently.
4. I want God to come to me in a dream, like he did with Solomon, and say "okay, what do you want me to do for you?" and I want my answer to be something a good deal better than "How about a new porsche?". (and, by the way, also better than solomon's stupid ass answer)
5. I want my dad to be cured of heart disease, diabetes, chronic pain, and ... food addiction.
6. I want a fucking vaccine for malaria, and I want to see it made available to everyone who needs it.
7. I want Jeffrey Sachs to agree to be drafted to run for president of the United States.
8. I want the other 791 people on the list of the world's billionaires to follow the example of the first two people on this list, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, and use their (obviously) high intelligence levels to figure out how to best give away enormous chunks of their wealth.

What's on your wish list?

Blessed Advent, man, I hope you get those things. I'd be pretty pleased with that list, I think...

What I want for Christmas is for every parent to read this book.

...and I suppose I'd like to see you to have mercy toward youself and to iterate and enact passion for your children like you do for the billions of strangers around the world.

...ah lovely megs. You are too subtle. Now I am sitting here wondering ... Did she say "xmas" on purpose, to subtly laugh at my "feast of the incarnation"? Or did she just say it cause it was quicker to type?

I love you! You rock.

Steph,

Mercy toward myself is probably still a long way off.
Do you know about the etymological roots of the words passion? It's wound up in the idea of some tool in the kitchen that you use to pound a piece of meat to tenderize it before you cook it. It's about suffering. (I'm thinking, "Maybe if I start talking about etymology, I can avoid the difficult parts of Steph's (as usual) enormously challenging comments") (thankyou Steph!)

I just always write xmas. CS Lewis said the X stands for the cross but that's not even really why I do it, I guess I'm lazy!

I tried to word it as "I'd like to see you" do that stuff cause I don't see you all the time. And I wish the same thing for myself, I'm actually sort of preoccupied with it, sigh

PS You're a doll to be so gracious about my 'enormously challenging, as usual' commets :)
See, direct that grace towards yourself as well! And again, I want the same thing for myself.

yeah. righto--kind of like saying "See, just grow some gills and go diving with no scuba gear" "See, just finish the damned bankroll" "See, just buy a ticket to Australia for Christmas" or even "See, direct that grace towards god as well!" (oh well)

ben! g'day from the land of essay ..
i think god grows gills on us. 'being renewed by the spirit', 'giving us a heart of flesh instead of a heart of stone', 'being transformed by the renewing of your mind...' You are right - on our own it seems ridiculous, impossible, but god...
decided to post a quick comment with the lack of usual thought, as you suggested on my blog. No essay.
Hit me back.
