Economist Jeffrey Sachs estimates that malaria, which kills 2 million children annualy, could be contained for a mere US$3 Billion per year. Think about it. $100 Billion to kill 200,000 people in Iraq each year, or $3 Billion to save 2 million children in Africa each year. Hmmmm.

That second image looks familiar...
It is a plaque in the garden at the centre of the Truman library in Missouri.
i don't like the way the plaque-inscibers value some lives at the expense of others...
i just went away and read the bit in Chaim Potok's 'Book of Lights' where Gershon reads Kaddish in Hiroshima, beside the monument to the victims of the bomb...
Dearling, did you know that in Jewish tradition, one who is mourning the loss of a parent recites Kaddish in the presence of a congregation, daily, for 11 months - so you would still be saying Kaddish for your Mom.
